Poxel was spun out from Merck Serono, a leading player in the field of metabolic disorders.

Merck Serono has been a leading player in the field of metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes, for 50 years. However, the Company recently decided to cut down further investment in R&D programs The CardioMetabolic Care business unit will only receive marketing support. Neither Merck KGaA nor Merck Serono is shareholder of Poxel.

Two companies were spun out from Merck Serono’s former R&D activity in metabolic disorders: Poxel and Metabrain. Poxel will be in charge of product development program and R&D portfolio management, including clinical studies up to phase II, whereas Metabrain will offer preclinical research services.

Poxel includes former Merck Serono endocrinology and cardiometabolic units’ management team, benefiting from their extensive knowledge, experience and know how in the field of product development and commercialization for type 2 diabetes.
