11ß-HSD1 Inhibitors

11ß-HSD1 (11ß-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1) is an enzyme regulating glucocorticoid levels in adipose tissue, skeletal muscles and liver. Glucocorticoids regulate adipokyne secretion, thus regulating insulin-response pattern of target tissues, visceral fat mass and plasma lipid profile.

11ß-HSD1 inhibitors have been shown to normalize adipokine secretion, thus having a beneficial effect on several cardio metabolic parameters.

11ß-HSD1 Inhibitors Mechanism of Action

11B-HSD1-Inhibitors-Mechanism-of-Action

11ß-HSD1 inhibitors can be developed as potent antidiabetic with multiple beneficial actions, mainly on glycemic control through improvement of insulin resistance, lipid profile, and decrease of cardiovascular risks.

The project is currently at the lead optimization stage at Poxel. SAR has been well established on a chemical series.
